Joe and Sheila are two lovable lawyers living in Cleveland, Ohio. We’ve been together since 2004 and were married in July 2007. We are lovers of justice, Jesus, and jaunts in our great city. Originally, we started this blog as a fun way to document our experiences and upcoming events and to update friends and family about life at our Lovenest! Over the past year or so, Joe has been sharing more about his weight loss journey and his running.
Special thanks to my brother, Cyrus, for setting up and hosting this site!
I am a 2010 graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and I became licensed to practice law in 2011. In 2012, I finally got fed up with being obese and being on a fast track to a lifetime of bad health, and I began making major changes in my diet. Using My Fitness Pal, I lost 20 pounds without exercising. (More information about my weight loss journey can be found here.)
For much of my life, I thought running was a very pointless hobby. In retrospect, I realize that those thoughts were probably driven by shame and fear because I thought that I couldn’t ever succeed as a runner. When my stepmom proposed that we do a 5K together as a family during the summer of 2012, I was dead set against the idea and did all that I could to avoid doing it. Sheila signed us up without my knowledge, and although I was pretty peeved that she did so at the time, I am so glad that she did! To my complete shock, I found that loved running! Since July 2012, I’ve run a several races of varying distances. I’ve completed one full marathon, two half marathons, and many other great races around Northeast Ohio. To learn more about my running, please check out Joe’s Running Page.
I love writing. Before I began focusing my efforts on this blog, I contributed to several sports websites and I wrote for my law school’s newspaper. I also have dreams of writing a novel or two someday. I love playing fantasy football too. I’m a lifelong Clevelander and a diehard Cleveland sports fan; I can’t imagine living anywhere else!
Sheila and I have a lot of fun together, and I hope this blog will allow our friends near and far to share in our lives on a regular basis. Additionally, I hope that my weight loss journey and development into an avid runner will inspire those who read this page.
I am a 2010 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations. I became licensed to practice law in November of 2010, and I started my own small firm in the spring of 2011 while working part-time as a grantwriter/event planner for a faith-based community development corporation. In June 2012, we started a community legal clinic to provide brief advice and legal education for our neighborhood! In my spare time, I love cooking, crafting, playing with pooch, and reading. Joe and I enjoy experiencing people, places, and things together, so I suggested this as an outlet to share our experiences and share a hobby together!
Butters is a middle-aged mutt who was discovered on Broadway (on Broadway!) Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio and brought to the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. There, he met his Fells. We can’t be too sure, but we think he’s a Cock-a-Mo (Cocker Spaniel American Eskimo mix). He is perfectly precious, selectively vicious, and gluten intolerant (really).
