I’ve got some pretty cool news that I’m pleased to share with all of you…

I was selected to be a FitFluential Ambassador!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with FitFluential, here’s a little bit of information about them from their website:

“FitFluential is a nationwide network of highly influential fitness enthusiasts sharing their journey both online and offline through multiple social media platforms. Founded in April of 2011 by Kelly Olexa, FitFluential was designed to connect health and wellness brands with their ideal target market through customized, long-term experiential and contextual marketing campaigns.”

I actually received the news a few weeks ago via e-mail when I was in the midst of a very stressful family-related phone call. Longtime readers of this blog may remember that I received the news that I had been selected to be an Official Blogger for the 2013 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon when I was in the midst of frantically attempting to locate a lost set of keys. Nothing like getting great news in the midst of a traumatic situation, right? Serving as an Official Blogger has been a great experience, and I’m confident that my partnership with FitFluential will be a similarly wonderful experience.

I’m still in a bit of shock over this news. Many folks who serve as FitFluential Ambassadors have enormously popular blogs and social media accounts, and to be among their number is a pretty big honor. When I filled out the application, I honestly didn’t expect to get selected, but I figured that trying and not being accepted was better than not trying at all. On the radio this week, I learned that Terry Francona has a sign in the Cleveland Indians’ clubhouse that says, “Fortune Favors The Bold”, and I think that’s a darn good phrase by which to live my life.

I’m excited about having the opportunity to share my weight loss and running journeys with a larger audience, and I truly hope that I’m able to help make a positive difference in someone’s life. Last week, I saw a friend who I haven’t seen in years post something on Facebook about how she went to the gym but couldn’t bring herself to go inside. My heart broke when I read that. I left a comment with some encouragement and practical advice. On my birthday, she wrote on my wall and told me that my comment helped inspire her to hop on the treadmill. I was so thrilled when I read that!

I’m grateful that serving as a FitFluential Ambassador will give me the opportunity to motivate and inspire a wider audience, and I truly hope that I’m able to help a few folks take some steps towards starting on the health, wellness, and running journeys that have transformed my life and made each and every day one to be cherished.
