When the legal world gets tough…The Frolicking Fells head out to The Hot Dog Diner!

After a crazy start to the week–two very stressful legal events in three days–we needed a break. We had worked all weekend long and Sheila’s worked a lot of evenings lately, so taking a few hours off on Wednesday wasn’t a gigantic indulgence for us.

Both of us wanted to see Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (which turned out to be just OK), so we figured we’d catch a matinee showing at Ridge Park Square. We haven’t had the greatest track record with seeing first-run movies in the theater lately–who else thought Rango was highly overrated?–and we thought that a good scare might be just what we needed to relieve our stress.

Since we were out in Parma, we figured we should check out some restaurants in that part of town. After a quick Google search, we decided on The Hot Dog Diner.

Man, this place was great!

I had a “Panini Dog”–a basic hot dog with cole slaw, fries, and BBQ sauce. Sheila had a Pepsi Float and a hot dog with chili and cheese. We split an order of cheese fries. There were so many that we ate our fill but still managed to take a sizable portion home!

This place had some of the nicest employees we’ve seen at a restaurant in a long, long time. Everyone from the cashier to the owner was friendly, hospitable, and helpful, and I almost felt like I was eating in someone’s home! Their prices were really reasonable too.

If you’re looking for a great hot dog in Cleveland, check out The Hot Dog Diner! Don’t get me wrong–I love Happy Dog and I really enjoy taking our out-of-town visitors there. However, sometimes the place can be a wee bit too loud. (And, let’s face it…unfortunately, the hipster population can be quite high.)

Worst of all..when we go to Happy Dog, Butters always says, “You shouldn’t eat at Happy Dog when you have an unhappy dog at home alone!”

Hmph! You probably didn't bring any Happy Dog leftovers for your unhappy dog either!

Anyhow, I know we’ll be back at The Hot Dog Diner–they had a great selection of burgers too, and I’m definitely planning on trying one on our next trip to this great place!
